Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge Wilderness Area is a small, federally protected Wilderness covering 9 acres in northern Michigan. As a designated Wilderness, it is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under strict non-motorized, primitive-travel rules. No roads, motors, or mechanized equipment are permitted; all access and travel must be by foot or paddle.
