Menagerie Wilderness

Menagerie Wilderness is a 4,965-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. It offers primitive backcountry terrain where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the landscape. Like all designated Wilderness, it is closed to motorized vehicles, mountain bikes, and mechanized travel of any kind—foot traffic and non-motorized stock are the only means of access.

Visitors should expect solitude and a genuine backcountry experience under strict Leave No Trace principles. There are no roads, maintained facilities, or developed infrastructure within the boundary. Access typically occurs via Forest Service trails from trailheads in the surrounding national forest, though exact approach routes and seasonal conditions vary. Spring snowmelt and winter weather can affect passability, so timing your visit for peak season—summer through early fall—offers the most reliable conditions and stable trails.
