Matilija Wilderness

Matilija Wilderness is a 29,648-acre federally protected wilderness area managed by the Forest Service in California. It offers primitive backcountry hiking and backpacking in a non-motorized setting where solitude and untracked terrain are the defining character. No roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—this is true wilderness, governed by Leave No Trace principles and the rules that come with federal designation.
