Malpais Mesa Wilderness Area is a 32,125-acre federally protected Wilderness in California managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The landscape is remote backcountry where you'll find solitude and primitive conditions — no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore the area, and the non-motorized designation ensures a quiet, undeveloped experience.
