Little Wilson Creek Wilderness

Little Wilson Creek Wilderness is a 5,462-acre federally designated Wilderness Area in Virginia, managed by the Forest Service. It protects primitive backcountry terrain where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore the landscape. The area is closed to all motorized and mechanized travel—no vehicles, mountain bikes, or wheeled gear are permitted. This is genuine wilderness: you'll find solitude, undeveloped forest, and the quiet that comes from the absence of roads and engines.

Visiting means embracing Leave No Trace principles and self-sufficiency. There are no maintained facilities, services, or marked infrastructure within the Wilderness boundary. Water and campsite management, route-finding, and personal safety are entirely your responsibility. Spring through fall offers the most reliable access, though winter conditions can make travel significantly more challenging.
