Lewis Fork Wilderness

Lewis Fork Wilderness is a 6,075-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Virginia, managed by the Forest Service. It offers primitive backcountry experience in a non-motorized setting where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore the landscape. Visitors should expect true wilderness conditions: no roads, no motorized equipment, and no mechanized travel of any kind. Leave No Trace principles are not optional—they're the foundation of wilderness stewardship here.

Access requires foot travel only, and the area is best visited during warmer months when weather is stable and trails are passable. Winter conditions can make backcountry travel hazardous.
