Huston Park Wilderness

Huston Park Wilderness spans over 31,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Wyoming, managed by the Forest Service. This is primitive, non-motorized terrain where hiking and backpacking form the core of the experience—a place for solitude and self-reliance in wild country. No roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted; you move on foot or horseback only.

Visitors should expect genuine wilderness conditions and come prepared for Leave No Trace travel. Water sources, weather exposure, and route-finding all demand solid backcountry skills. Access requires driving to trailheads outside the designated area, then entering on foot. Summer and early fall offer the most reliable travel window, though snow and cold close or complicate routes in winter months. This is not a destination for casual day hikers—plan a multi-day trip and come with map, compass, and the ability to navigate and camp independently.
