Hunting Camp Creek Wilderness

Hunting Camp Creek Wilderness is an 8,471-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Virginia, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking through primitive terrain where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and roads are prohibited. Visitors come here to experience solitude and untrammeled landscape in a non-motorized setting.

As a designated Wilderness Area, the land is managed under strict protections: no motors, no mountain bikes, no chainsaws or development. Travel is by foot or stock animal only. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp on durable surfaces, and minimize your footprint. This is genuinely remote backcountry, not a day-hike destination with amenities. Come prepared for self-sufficient travel and expect to encounter few people.
