Hassayampa River Canyon Wilderness Area

Hassayampa River Canyon Wilderness Area spans over 12,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Arizona, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is true wilderness—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors must travel on foot or by horse, and all use follows Leave No Trace principles.

The area offers hiking and backpacking in a primitive setting where solitude and self-reliance are central to the experience. The canyon landscape and river corridor provide the primary draw for backcountry travel. Access requires planning; there are no developed trailheads or visitor facilities within the wilderness boundary itself.
