Hain Wilderness Area

Hain Wilderness Area is a 16,093-acre federally protected wilderness in California managed by the National Park Service. This is primitive backcountry where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and roads are prohibited—the wilderness rules are strict and enforced. Visitors come here to hike and backpack in genuine solitude, away from developed infrastructure and machine noise.

Access is on foot only. Leave No Trace principles are essential: pack out what you pack in, camp on durable surfaces away from water sources, and treat the backcountry as a shared resource that depends on visitor restraint. This is a place for self-reliant recreation where the landscape and your own planning determine the experience.
