East Humboldts Wilderness

The East Humboldts Wilderness encompasses 36,651 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service as a non-motorized primitive area. This is genuine wilderness — no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors come here to hike, backpack, and experience solitude in a landscape of ridge lines and high country terrain.

Access requires leaving your vehicle behind and traveling on foot. The wilderness operates under strict Leave No Trace principles: pack out everything you pack in, camp at least 100 feet from water sources, and use established campsites where possible to minimize impact. Wildlife viewing and photography are common pursuits. Seasonal snow and weather conditions dictate the visitor window; late spring through early fall offers the most reliable access, though high-elevation snow can linger into early summer and return by late autumn.
