East Cactus Plain Wilderness Area

East Cactus Plain Wilderness Area encompasses 14,132 acres of federally protected backcountry in Arizona, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is genuine wilderness—primitive and roadless, where motors, mechanized travel, and mountain bikes are prohibited. Visitors come here to hike and backpack in solitude, moving through the landscape on foot alone.

The wilderness operates under strict Leave No Trace principles. There are no maintained facilities, services, or improved trails; you navigate the terrain as it comes. Water, shade, and camping spots require advance planning and self-sufficiency. Access requires a short drive to the trailhead, but once you enter, you're in untrammeled country where human presence is minimal and the landscape belongs to itself.
