Devil's Canyon Wilderness Area

Devil's Canyon Wilderness Area spans 8,773 acres of federally protected backcountry in southeastern Utah, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is genuine wilderness—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors enter on foot to experience a primitive landscape where solitude and self-reliance are central to the experience.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore the area. The wilderness demands Leave No Trace ethics: pack out everything you pack in, camp well away from water sources, and respect the land's fragile recovery from human use. There are no developed trails or facilities; navigation and route-finding are your responsibility.

Access depends on trailheads in the surrounding area and on seasonal conditions. Spring and fall typically offer the most stable weather and moderate temperatures. Winter can be harsh and unpredictable, while summer heat in this part of Utah can be intense. Plan accordingly and check current conditions with the managing BLM office before heading out.
