Dark Canyon Wilderness

Dark Canyon Wilderness is a 46,359-acre federally protected wilderness area in Utah managed by the Forest Service. It offers remote backcountry terrain suited to hikers and backpackers seeking solitude and primitive conditions away from development.

This is non-motorized, roadless country where Leave No Trace principles apply. No mechanized travel, motors, or maintained infrastructure exists here—you're traveling on foot through untracked or minimally marked terrain. Come prepared for self-reliance: navigation, water management, and wilderness skills are essential.

Access requires effort and planning. There are no established trailheads with parking lots or visitor facilities. The wilderness appeals to experienced backcountry travelers comfortable with route-finding, isolation, and the demands of true remote travel.
