Colonel Bob Wilderness

Colonel Bob Wilderness is an 11,853-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized setting where solitude and wild character define the experience. The landscape is accessible only on foot; no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted within wilderness boundaries. Visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the area's wild character. Access requires a short approach walk from nearby trailheads, and the best visiting season runs from late spring through early fall, when snow clears and weather stabilizes. Winter conditions can make travel difficult to impossible.
