Clear Springs Wilderness

Clear Springs Wilderness is a 4,739-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Illinois, managed by the Forest Service. As a designated Wilderness, it preserves primitive backcountry where no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—this is country for foot traffic only, where silence and solitude are the rule.

The area offers hiking and backpacking for those seeking quiet immersion in untrammeled forest and open backcountry. Access is intentionally modest; there are no developed trailheads or facilities within the Wilderness boundary itself.
