Chimney Peak Wilderness Area

Chimney Peak Wilderness Area spans 13,244 acres of federally protected backcountry in California, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is true wilderness—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel allowed. Visitors come for hiking and backpacking in a primitive setting where solitude and self-reliance define the experience.

The area offers foot-traffic-only access to rugged terrain. Expect to navigate without developed trail infrastructure and to practice Leave No Trace principles throughout your visit. Water sources, weather exposure, and navigation demands are real considerations.
