Buzzards Peak Wilderness Area

Buzzards Peak Wilderness Area is a 12,330-acre federally protected wilderness in California managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive backcountry where motors, roads, and mechanized travel are prohibited—a landscape reserved for foot traffic and non-motorized exploration.

The area offers hiking and backpacking in a non-motorized setting where solitude and Leave No Trace ethics are fundamental to the wilderness experience. Visitors should expect no developed infrastructure, no trail maintenance guarantees, and the full responsibility that comes with self-sufficient backcountry travel. Water sources, navigation aids, and emergency services are not assured.
