Birkhead Mountains Wilderness

Birkhead Mountains Wilderness is a 5,216-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in North Carolina, managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is primitive backcountry characterized by rugged terrain and natural forest cover, offering visitors a genuine remote experience far from developed areas and mechanized access.
