About Sequoia National Forest

Sequoia National Forest spans 244,554 acres across central California and offers diverse recreation across a landscape of mixed conifer forest and mountain terrain. The forest supports hiking and backpacking on established trail networks, dispersed camping throughout its backcountry, fishing in creeks and alpine lakes, and scenic driving on forest roads. Hunting seasons run through fall and winter for deer, bear, and upland game. Access is year-round in lower elevations, though higher elevations and many trails become snow-bound from December through March, limiting practical recreation to summer and early fall months when trails are clear and weather is stable.
