Manti-La Sal National Forest

Manti-La Sal National Forest spans nearly half a million acres across Utah, offering a landscape of mixed terrain suitable for a range of outdoor pursuits. The forest supports hiking, backpacking, fishing, and dispersed camping across its multiple-use lands managed by the Forest Service. Seasonal access varies significantly; summer and early fall provide the most reliable conditions for trail use and backcountry travel, while winter snow can limit access and create hazardous conditions on higher elevations and exposed terrain.

Dispersed camping is available throughout much of the forest, giving travelers flexibility in finding a base camp. Access and trailhead conditions depend heavily on season and elevation—higher areas may remain snow-covered into early summer, and winter weather can restrict passage from December through March.
