About Curlew National Grassland
Curlew National Grassland spans nearly 47,300 acres across Idaho's high desert country, managed by the Forest Service as multiple-use public land. The landscape is characterized by open grassland, sagebrush, and scattered timber, offering a quieter alternative to busier national forests. Visitors can explore the area by trail, vehicle, and horseback, with opportunities for fishing in seasonal waters, dispersed camping throughout the grassland, and hunting during designated seasons. Access is straightforward from surrounding roads, though services are minimal in the immediate area. Spring through fall is the practical window for recreation; winters can be harsh and may limit access.
